Get the right pic!

Helpful photo tips:
With the season starting up, I wanted to offer a tip or two for those pics you’re going to take of you and your trophy. I hate seeing bad pics, that don’t really show off the deer that well.
  1. Take your time and don’t rush it. A few extra minutes before you get to the skin’n pole or deer locker won’t hurt.
  2. Zoom out and step in! It is much better to not zoom in with the camera, you will end up with a grainier shot. Zoom out as far as you can and then step closer to the subject.
  3. Fill the frame! We don’t care about the grass, palmettos or pine trees in the background, Fill the shot with you and your trophy.
  4. Yes, it’s ok for the hunter to hold that deer, hog or fish way out in front. We all know the trick. But it makes the subject look much bigger and you will enjoy the picture much more.
  5. Cropping the photo later helps, but better to get a close up in the first place.
  6. Try a lower angle. Most pics you see in magazines or on TV are shot from near ground level.
  7. If hunting alone, bring a small stand or tripod and use the timer on your phone/camera to take pics of yourself.
  8. Take a lot of pics!!! You can't edit a pic you didn't take!
Here’s a couple examples of good vs better shots. The turkey pic in my avatar was self-taken using the timer on my phone. The camera was sitting on the ground, propped up by twigs, (same for the B&W pic below.)

Hope this was helpful. I mean only the best by it. Good luck this season!!
