I got me a new, to me, ultimate woodcock gun today. An L.C. Smith Field Grade 16 Bore with 26 inch barrels, double beads, auto ejector choked I.C. and Mod.. It was manufactured in 1940 (according to the numbers) and is in great condition. Lets see y'all's timber doodle guns. 79119301_10212104167558397_2523037838925103104_o.jpg

16 is a gauge, not a bore.?
That's a good looking shotgun.

I bought a lil' Cricket .22 and a Taurus G3 Friday.

Called Saturday and ordered a new Tri- Star G2. 12ga 3" Mag. Waiting like a kid for it. Be about a week.?

I love those old s x s guns, sold two L.C. Smiths, 16 and 12 ga. last year. I have a prewar French made St. Etienne 16 ga that weighs in about 5.5 lbs. and is fun to shoot and quick to point.

My above Brun-Latrige, Darne and Manufrance were all made in St. Etienne and are lightweight game guns weighing between 5 3/4 and 5 7/8 lbs. each. French guns aren't as common as those made in the UK at Birmingham or London, but IMO, every bit as well made and are bargains in comparison to British (Scottish, too) and those made in the USA. French guns show up more often in former French colonies as do the Brit guns in their former colonies. Guns made in Belgium are often looked down on by shotgun "bores" and the lower grades are often designated as JABC--Just Another Belgium Clunker. However, Liege is Belgium's gun center and made and still makes some fine shotguns equal to the other European centers of gun manufacturing grade for grade. LeBeau-Courally, Francotte and FN come to mind and there are others. Many "continental" shotguns were brought back to the US in duffel bags by GI's on their return home. Of course the Germans, Italian and Spanish also make worthy guns equal to the best made by other gunmakers.
Poland was not a major player in gun manufacture and export, but there are a few gunmakers from Poland that made excellent double guns. Gil
