Grace or bust, miracle or meddling

So many churches are teaching and training people on how to stop sinning. They are teaching and training people to focus on sin and sin management. We have been taught and trained these earthly religious activities that are supposed to rid ourselves of sin, so we just put on our game face and give it our best human effort, only to find that the more we focus on “stopping sin” the more powerful it becomes. When we focus on us stopping sin we are actually offering ourselves to sin.

The religious message has got it backwards. Actually trying to stop sin won’t work. The new covenant reason that sin will not master us is not because we conquer it in our human effort by following law or religious activities, but we master sin because Jesus Christ conquered sin at the cross. He became Sin and when He was crucified, He died to Sin “once and for all”. When we were Crucified with Christ we also died to sin “once and for all”. Jesus was resurrected from the dead and so, also were we resurrected from the dead.

Now through the resurrection, Jesus lives in us forever. We are now dead to sin and We are Alive to Him for eternity. In Him we find that we are Alive and sin is completely dead. The new way of living is to offer ourselves to this new union of Jesus Christ-in us. When we offer ourselves to Him fully by our faith and trust, He produces complete righteousness and Eternal life for us.

That’s the miracle of Salvation, once we give up on trying to stop sin and give up on trying to offer ourselves to stopping or managing our sin and we offer ourselves fully to Christ in us, the power of sin is completely taken away and it will no longer master us.

We will begin to see our new identity as a saint. We will begin to see our new identity as a son. We will begin to see that we have been made perfect, holy, clean, pure, righteous, justified, sanctified and 100% alive for eternity. We are now perfect instruments of righteousness because of Jesus Christ and what He did for us. Now we can walk in our true identity of who God says we are and stop walking in the false identity that the religious anti christ message says we are.

“Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.” Romans 6:13

There's no doubt that the minute you attempt to make yourself master over ANYTHING, you become it's slave. The secret I've found is that in order to overcome it is to admit my powerlessness over it, and turn it over to God. This isn't just in regards to sin, but EVERYTHING: finances, loved ones, my future. It's all emcompassing.

It's a grand paradox, but in order to have total peace, total victory, you must first have total surrender. Anything else is fighting a battle that has already been won.
