THE MYTH OF SEPARATION
Man was created by God to live in spiritual union (oneness) with God; living in the intimacy of relationship together. The only thing that could separate man from God was sin and when Adam sinned, the wages of sin caused spiritual death immediately, which is separation from God.
Man stayed separated from God for the next 4000 years as sin inhabited mankind’s humanity. God gave the Law to Israel to reveal to mankind their two problems of death (separation from God) because of the presence of sin in them. But the Law could not do anything to fix these two problems.
ONLY GOD COULD RESTORE HUMANITY
Finally, God stepped out of heaven to be born as a tiny human baby to grow up and restore back to mankind what they lost when Adam sinned- the Life of God dwelling as one spirit in man in union with man (no separation). God wanted relationship with man restored, so He did in Jesus what needed to be done to bring that about.
How did Jesus do it?
THE SIN ISSUE—> DOING AWAY WITH SIN FOR ALL TIME
He had to first deal with and remove what caused man’s spiritual death/separation from God…..sin! To do that, Jesus had to live His whole life as a man without sin while fulfilling the Law that God had given. Jesus did just that.
He willingly went to the cross and took away the sin of the world in His blood, removing the cause of mankind’s death/separation from God, sin!
The sin issue is now completely over for all eternity! (I understand that in this time based physical realm we live in that sinning occurs, but Christ has already removed all of mankind’s sins at the cross once and for all eternity, even those sins we may commit tomorrow).
THE DEATH ISSUE—> RESTORING LIFE TO MANKIND (ENDING SEPARATION)
Next, Christ rose from the dead after 3 days, conquering death that came with sin, never to die again.
Now, Christ lives forever and offers His Eternal Life to anyone who will receive Him. To those who receive Him, Life is restored to them- the living God moves into their spirit and joins Himself with Him forever. John 1:12, 1 Cor 6:17.
THERE IS NO MORE SEPARATION FROM GOD FOR BELIEVERS IN JESUS
Salvation is receiving the Life of God in us to be joined together forever as one spirit. No separation. Ever.
What about when we sin after being joined with Christ? Doesn’t that cause separation from God like it did with Adam? No!
Why not?
Because of the eternal sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. What did He do with all sin? He took it all away! John 1:29. He did away with sin for all time by His sacrifice once and for all! Heb 9:26.
As a result, when Jesus comes again bodily you earth, He won’t come with any reference to sin. Heb 9:28. Why not? Because He completely dealt with all sin at the cross! It is finished!
Because of that, we enjoy union with God 100% of the time forever! (No separation)!
THE DECEPTION OF SEPARATION FROM SATAN
So what does Satan do? He does all He can to deceive believers into thinking they ARE separated from God! How does he do it? By accusations of sin! Sin based upon what? Well law of course! The violation of doing good by doing evil. That old tree that Satan STILL wants us to eat from!
LIES AGAINST THE TRUTH TO NEUTRALIZE THE SONS OF GOD ON EARTH
At salvation, a believer in Christ died with Christ to who they were in Adam, died to the law, and died to sin. All of this is true and stated clearly in Scripture. See Romans 6 and elsewhere.
So of course, Satan will do what he can to make a believer think all of those things are NOT true! So he presents lies suggesting that who we were in Adam has not died (the old self is still alive); and he will deceive us into believing that we are still under law and that the sin issue is very much alive.
And as a result, separation from God is continual when in reality, all of it is a lie. And most believers unfortunately buy into these lies.
WANT PROOF?
Just listen to today’s Christian teaching. Where is the emphasis? On what WE have to do to get CLOSER to God (bc we are separated from Him). How? By sinning less and being more obedient to law based living. The teaching is this:
‘If you, Christian, can obey God’s commandments well, you will not sin very often. The less you sin, the closer you will be to God and the happier you will be and more pleasing to God you will be.’
***That is a summary of 99% of all sermons you will ever hear!***
Denominations exist because of differences of opinion on the definition of what law we are to supposedly live by.
THE TRUTH IN CHRIST= NO SEPARATION EVER
Brother and sister in Christ…. IT IS FINISHED! Christ did it all. As a believer in Him, He is in you and you are in Him, forever! Your life is hidden with Christ in God. Christ IS your life. Col 3:3,4.
Not first place in YOUR life. Not a part of YOUR life! You have no life apart from Him! He IS your life forever! There will never be separation from Him again.
Why not? Because He did away with sin forever! Because He fulfilled the Law and we died to the law on the cross with Christ. Romans 6.
So if the Law has been fulfilled in us by Christ (Rom 8:4), and sin has been taken away for all time by His sacrifice and our death to sin (Heb 9:26), and our old self in Adam was crucified with Christ and buried, and Christ has joined Himself with us in oneness as our very Life (1 Cor 6:17), what could possibly cause separation from God ever again? NOTHING!
Can we see that?
***God does not judge you by your record. He judges you by Christ’s record! And that is perfection.*** Heb 10:14.
GOD’S PURPOSE
Why did He do this? For what purpose? So that we can try to duplicate by our own efforts what Christ did? Of course not! He went to the ends of heaven and earth to accomplish all of this SO THAT we may enjoy life with Him in intimate relationship. SO THAT we may KNOW HIM. SO THAT we may live in His love, His joy, His peace etc every moment for all eternity!
Child of God, you are eternally joined with God. There is nothing left to ever cause separation from God again. Rest in this fact and begin to enjoy knowing God. He is your life. Now and forever.
