I agree with Elfie, the answer is NO if SS is your only income.

I also believe in Ga, if you dont have to file federal return, you also dont need to file a state return.

Ga has a rather high SS income exemption from taxation. That is why Ga is a good place to retire along with SC if you are going to have taxable income. Fl is best and NC is one of the worst.

You would still have to file federal though correct, even if you live in Georgia... Thankfull Ga helps us out with state income tax on SS.
