Koa and ebony

Back during the summer I decided I was going to stop making duck calls. But then I was contacted by a couple of people who wanted some special calls made for weddings and various other events. So, I got a different tone board jig and was very happy with what I turned out. Well, I got bit by the bug again and turned this one out last night. I bought some Hawaiin koa a few months back and decided on a whim to see what it looks like. The photo is awful as I did it on my cell phone. But in the hand it is a beautiful call and sounds really good. Lots of rasp and high end too. Cant wait to turn a trumpet out of this stuff.

I've never worked with Koa wood, but I've seen it after being turned and it looks great!
