"I went Fishing today" with Jason and his son Jackson on a sonar trip...and a little bit of fishing too. Didn't get started until noon and off the water at 4pm when it got a little chilly and someone did dress for the weather....not mentioning any names
We spent most of the time tweaking and setting up their Helix 9 MEGA at the dash and their Helix 12 on the bow. While on the bow, the easiest way to teach and explain what you're seeing on the screen is to fish. So, the Helix 12 got tweaked up and off we went to a three places to fish a little.
No change on pattern, still drop shot and spoon fishing in ditches and creek channel ledges in 42'-45'. One place was absolutely loaded with bait and fish...you could see "sketti" all over the screen. Caught some decent spots and lost a few more. Natural Shad, Herring, Blue Lily, and Chartreuse Shad did the damage on the drop shot. The spoon got several hits.
Ended the few hours with 6-7 in the boat and Jason and Jackson got a much better understanding of their sonars. Fun time with tons of laughs and jokes - these two are characters. Hope they enjoyed it as much as I did - I actually missed a couple of fish from laughing!
On a different note - my sister made me a beanie for my birthday....colors match my boat. Thanks Kim..... LJ
