Mounting scope ring height

I just ordered a vortex viper 4 x16x50 on a killer deal.
I plan to mount it on a Remington 700 sendero 300 win mag.
The scope data show the 50 mm objective as 2.26 ". It is also a 30mm tube. Im useing Leupold standard mounts with the windage in the rear.
Do you think high rings will work? Or do I need extra highs.
I want to keep it as low as possible.

High will probably work, but you might also be able to get by with medium, it all depends on where the scope ends up sitting for your eye relief , and which mounts you choose. I put a 44 mm scope on my heavy barrel 700 that had a 30mm tube, and was able to use low mounts, the bell is very close to the barrel, but thats the way I like it. I would try the high mounts, and if you have a lot of clearance, go back and get mediums and try them.

High should be a safe bet. I have a 4-12x50 Swarovski mounted in Leupold high rings, on a Browning Bar, with room to spare. I have a Meopta 4-12x50 mounted in meduim height rings on another Browning Bar. It fits as well, but I actually prefer the high ring height.

Nice scope choice, BTW!
