They’re ready

They strut year round basically. I think they’re always “ready”, but the hens get to make that call. Lol

Sometimes I feel bad for the animals, turkeys in the spring, bass in march, deer in November. Everything is around mating. Imagine your old lady calls and says get home quick . You open the door, you either get shot in the face, shot in the chest, or a hook in your mouth.;);)

Y’all remember let the big Tom go. He’s the breeder only. Don’t shoot jakes. Just turkeys with a 9” beard but not 2 yo.
Be selective !

You gotta shoot the guy with the guy. Turkey doc says he’s got low T and ED. Hens don’t like him and wouldn’t let him breed even if he could.

It can get confusing. I try to pick out the one that looks like a geek Tom.
The one that can’t strut. Stands off from the cool group.

I had three hens in the backyard and one Tom strutting around trying to win their affection on Valentine’s Day. The ladies weren’t paying him no never mind. I didn’t know they got started this early in the year.
