As far as sound they used to be great. They say the Ryman has great acoustics. I cant speak for that, but the music sounds just as good up there as it does on the front row. You just further way.
I got asked to leave the Ryman, the night the Doobie Brothers were playing. Michael McDonald had quit the band between when I booked and when I showed up. They came out and played bout 5 songs I had never heard before and I hollered out, "Play some old stuff". I looked up and this man was standing at the end of the row, signaling me to come there. Went out one door and snuck back in another one.
