What can I plant that will come up right now?

Bad situation with the drought we just went through. I penned up some hogs to keep them fat , then we got a ton of rain, they muddied up there pen, the small pen is mobile, I want to plant something that will come up and when its up I can drag them back on top of it and let them eat it down. Kind of like a rotational grazing thing. Will wheat come up right now? Thanks for any advice.

Not as fast as usual but it will germinate.

WIth enough moisture. Wheat, rye, oats. Best as I remember we kept 15 t0 20 acres of wheat, rye mix pasture to graze sows on through the winter.

I would check with your extension agent

wheat and annual rye. Either will, but it will be slow growing up til mid March, early April

I planted rye 2 weeks ago

Nothing has come up yet, had to wait for rain and as soon as I planted it turned cold. Thus no or slow germination.
