They can spray without using the handstand. I learned that holding one with a shirt thrown over him one night at arms length. I took a direct hit.. I’m sure they can fling it further with the handstand. You catch one in a box trap and you will find out.

Round here I hear of more dogs getting sprayed than people. Not going to test that theory though.

Most skunks I've seen show no fear. I can walk right up to them. They're confident in their secret weapon.

Yep. The regular striped ones just point their butt at you and raise their tail.

I think that I've told this elsewhere on here but, our laundry room is just off of our garage, at the time this happened we did not have a garage door so it was open to the outside. One night my wife went out to go to the laundry room and there staring at her about 7ft away was two skunks, she just looked at them, took their picture with her cell phone then said, shoo, shoo and they just walked off.
