Myself and 2 buddies checked out of the Mayport Jetties with 984 other boats to fish the 13th Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament. When the final fish was weighed at the end of the second day, our 48.12 lb king mackerel was at the top of the leader board giving us first place. We won a nice boat, a chunk of cash and a bunch of other cool stuff. We also made the sports section of the local newspaper in full color. We were honest to goodness celebrities for almost 2 full days !!! Between 1980 and 2011 I probably fished all but 2 of these events along with a bunch of others between Mayport and Daytona Beach. Still feel very humbled and blessed to participate in as many of these type of events as I did and to have made the best of a huge opportunity when it presented itself.

Admirable accomplishment. Keep going as long as you can.

I haven't been able to crack 35 lbs. on a king.
