Elijah Daniel and two former Auburn athletes were arrested following a month-long investigation into a string of burglaries and thefts at a dormitory on the Auburn University Campus, according to police.

More information concerning Daniel's arrest, which was reported by AL.com Wednesday night, was released Thursday morning by the Auburn Police Division.

Several dorms in the South Donahue Residence Hall, which many Auburn football players call home, were burglarized during spring break in late March. Residents reported "various electronic devices and jewelry" were stolen during spring break, according to the Auburn Police Division.

Daniel, DeNorris James and Khalil Sellers were developed as suspects by detectives, who later searched several residences and recovered electronics and jewelry that had been reported stolen in the burglaries over spring break.

All three suspects are facing four theft of property charges and four burglary charges, which include six felonies. Police say additional charges are possible, but there are no additional suspects.

Initially it was believed suspects attempted or "forcibly entered" 12 suites at the residence hall, according to a letter provided April 1 to residents and later obtained by the student newspaper.

Many Auburn athletes share the the dormitory with students. The dorm, located across from the Auburn Athletics Complex, opened in the fall of 2013.

James, 23-year-old linebacker out of nearby Smiths Station, walked on this spring for the Auburn football team and was removed from the roster following spring practices, which concluded April 19. Sellers, 21, was a walk on for the track program several years ago.

Daniel, 21, was suspended indefinitely from the football program by coach Gus Malzahn late Wednesday.

Daniel was expected to compete for a starting job next season for the Tigers. He played all 27 games of his first two seasons on campus and started two games.

Daniel, James and Sellers were arrested Wednesday night and transported to the Lee County Detention Center, where they were eligible for a $24,000 bond.

Key words...suspended indefinitely = practicing with team before season begins and reinstated before conference schedule begins.
