Combo Platter

We fried up some Calabash shrimp and Clark's Hill catfish last night, with some fries, jalapeno pups, and homemade cocktail and tartar sauces. Was right edible.
Tried a new breading method with the shrimp-soak them in a wash of egg, mustard, lemon juice, Crystal hot sauce, Creole seasoning and Old Bay for awhile, then dredge them in a mixture of flour and corn starch. Think I'll start doing this from now on.

Perfection on the combo/captain's platter right there! Curious if your lil' banded visitor got any leftovers?
There weren't any leftovers. He cleaned out the cat food bowl and left. :)

It just refers to being the style of seafood made famous by the old restaurants in Calabash, NC ( "Seafood Capital of the World," ) and then spread all over the place. Usually what people call Calabash-style shrimp are smaller shrimp that are lightly breaded with an eggwash and seasoned flour instead of dry breading in cornmeal, crumbs, or whatever.
