Early American Frontier-style Trade/Scalping Knife

This is my version of an early American trade knife. The knife is forged 1095 steel with a set of wood Micarta scales that a fellow who worked with my Dad gave to me 50 years ago. Handmade leather sheath (by me). Kinda primitive since I’ve just lately tried my hand at leather work.

Funny how this came about. I forged the blade 20 years ago. Started on the handle scales. It disappeared from my stuff years ago. Found the scales recently and couldn’t find the blade. Figured it was lost. A few weeks ago my son asked me to finish “his” knife. Took one look and remembered he took the blade as a kid. We had a good laugh and I realized I wasn’t as senile as I thought.7DD3B813-38E3-4A69-BE4B-0B564B5481F6.jpeg2ED0274B-686E-4C6E-927D-175FD38D95CF.jpeg

That is a mighty nice knife! The blade style reminds me of a "Natchez" knife.
