Happy Sabbath day, brothers! Today's sabbath nugget that you won't hear in church...lol
God tells us in Isa 46:10 that He "declares the end from the beginning, and from ancient times, things still to come" It's so cool when you look at the OT like that. You see the first coming and second coming of our Messiah in the life of Joseph. You see the Father offering His son in Abraham (the Father) and Isaac (the Son). Not only do we see that God would offer His own son on the mountain - it tells us that Abraham put the wood on Isaac's back!!! - but we also get a glimpse of what the bride of our Messiah would be, as foreshadowed in Isaac's bride. This is interesting....
Just like we don't hear from Isaac any more in Genesis - after he is offered on the mountain - until he comes to get his bride, Jesus, too, has been 'gone' from the Earth and will not be seen again until He comes for His bride. Who is this bride? We see a shadow picture of it in Genesis. Abraham sends the unnamed helper (Holy Spirit) to HIS OWN FAMILY to find a bride for Isaac. (Abrahams entire family was not bride lol) The helped is looking for what kind of person? The bride of Isaac was the one that was WILLING TO DO MORE THAN WAS ASKED OF HER!!! Rebekah, once she agrees to the covenant, is given gifts (just as the Holy Spirit gives believers gifts) and is brought to the holy land for the wedding!
