I know USFS manages trees not turkeys.....

So burning during the growing season will typically kill or set back a lot of hardwood species of trees.

Honestly, the best way to bring more sunlight to the forest floor outside of a chainsaw or feller buncher… is by fire.

But Good Grief! This is Cohutta WMA taken from my back yard burning in mid April. State and Federal agencies are pulling in opposite directions it seems.

Glad they’re burning!! Understand your frustration also.

Burning to improve the habitat while ground nesting birds are nesting is kind of backerds.

The Forest Service needs to do some cutting rotation of the trees. Would benefit the forest, wildlife, etc. Would only tick off the tree huggers who really don’t understand nature anyway .
