Great story! Jack was, and still is, my favorite outdoor writer. I hunt with more than one 270 because of his advice. My favorite one? A pre-64 model 70 born the same year I was…1957.

One of my little pursuits is collecting autographs. I’ve got one of his books autographed and it’s a very cherished possession. Got Elmer Keith to autograph one of his books too.
