Jon Boat Question

Hey all. Looking to buy a Jon boat for bream and crappie on rivers and ponds. Just looking for opinions. Is it best to buy a good used one or buy new and fix it up like I want? What is the minimum gear you think I need?
I was thinking outboard, trolling motor, and some kind of seats. 12' I think.

Opinions?

Get one bigger than you think you need like 14'

Don't get the flimsy metal 3' wide boat, the widre the better

Buy all welded if you can swing it

9.9hp is plenty of motor

trolling motor comes in handy

Buy seats with good strong upright backs on them. Not from wally world. You will thank me later

Tempress high back is the brand I have in my boat.

If you can find one, a boat with pedestals vs bench seats has more room. Bass Tracker Tadpole.

Get a 14x42 minimum with at least a 15hp or you won't be happy.
I would buy used. New boats and outboards have got stupid expensive.
Ideally,a fresh trade-in at a dealer where the owner is upgrading. There's a lot of small rigs in the Boat Trader.

I love jon boats!
