Out today on a half day sonar trip with Bryan and his son Jonathan. First - they had a fishing pontoon....and I mean a fishing pontoon. 115 hp, Minn Kota Terova, Blue-Red-Green LED lights, back deck, bait tank, and rod holders every where. Pretty cool set up.
We spent most of the time tweaking and going over what we were seeing on his Helix 9 MEGA SI and Helix 7 (which he used for just mapping) but did fish some too.
Second place we stopped once we started fishing....a small striper hits my swimbait....we moved on to a couple of other places and some good spots hit their herring as we eased along. I even saw some fish on the Humminbird and dropped down from the back of the "toon"....thump, fish on the drop shot!
By the time the morning ended...the Helix units were tweaked and looking sharp...and they knew how to use the units. So, they dropped me off at the dock and headed back out to fish some more. A few minutes later, I get a text from Bryan.
He sends me two pictures....one is a sonar shot of what they were seeing....the other was a good striper Jonathan caught...Bryan said they saw the fish just before it hit. That's awesome...after the trip, they were able to go out and put we went over to work...and catch the biggest fish of the day. Great fun...Bryan and Jonathan are some good folks...and of course, we had some laughs too
