Natural infection fighter works better than best antibiotics

The number of antibiotic-resistant bugs is growing daily. Visit any hospital and your risk of getting a resistant infection is very high. Stay overnight and your risk goes up even more. So what can you do to fight infection without using antibiotics?

Researchers have found a natural substance that's comparable to powerful antibiotics in killing germs, including staph. It's even comparable to the powerful, expensive, and toxic antibiotic vancomycin. Doctors typically reserve this drug for methicillin resistance.

Not only is this drug as powerful as antibiotics, it can do something antibiotics can't do. In addition to killing bacteria, it also can kill Candida and intestinal parasites.

What is this amazing natural antibiotic? It's the inexpensive and common oil of oregano!

In a test tube study, oil of oregano inhibited the deadly staph germ just as well as penicillin and streptomycin. But many strep strains are resistant to these older drugs, requiring very powerful, expensive and dangerous vancomycin. Oil of oregano took care of the germ as well as vancomycin!

Then researchers from Georgetown University tested oil of oregano on animals. They gave mice lethal staph infections. They gave one group a placebo -- all of them died. The researchers gave another group of mice carvacrol, believed to be the active ingredient in oil of oregano; all of them died. And they gave a third group a relatively low dose of the whole oil (two to three drops daily). Of these mice, 50% survived. This showed that the whole product is superior to its isolated components (perceived active ingredient). It also showed how powerful this oil really is.

And it's much cheaper than the drugs. Consider this: Vancomycin costs about $16 per pill compared to $1 per capsule of oil of oregano. In all honesty, that's not a fair comparison. You would need about 10 capsules of oil of oregano to get the same effectiveness as one vancomycin. However, it's still a 40% savings. Germs don't develop resistance to it. And it spares your kidney and the rest of your body from toxicity.

God gave us remedies for just about every disease in nature. Old Chinese philosophy suggests looking over your shoulder for what ails you. For instance, you find artemisinin, which is a cure for malaria, in plants where malaria is common. By comparison, oregano grows just about anywhere.

If you get an infection, you don't have to be afraid to reach for natural remedies to treat it. Please add oil of oregano to the other infection fighters I've discussed in the past. These include silver hydrosol, citrus seed extracts, olive leaf extract, aloe vera, echinacea, and cat's claw. This is a powerful line of infection-fighting nutrients.

My favorite brand is Biotics ADP. It's a standardized emulsified form of oil of oregano and readily available on the Internet. I've used it for years on my patients, and I've seen tremendous results. I typically use one to two tablets with meals, four times daily. You can also get a standardized drop. They should contain at least 85% carvacrol, the active molecule. You can start with one drop four times daily. It is really strong stuff and quite irritating. Don't ingest without diluting it in water.

Yours for better health and medical freedom,
Robert Jay Rowen, MD

I hear too many drug horror stories myself. That's why I'm big on this. Plenty of good sources of info exist, I'm trying to learn more all the time :)

Any way to get it other then pill form? As in a container to maybe use for cookin or somethin?

Try this page Nic... Dr Chris Natural Pharmacy.

I bookmarked all the oil of oregano products. :)

This store is in Snellville on Route 78, BTW:).

You may want to ask them if its a good idea to use this product in cooking. Some natural supplements loose their potency when heated this way, and I'm not certain about this one.

A family member sent us a bottle of the pills when my wife was sick and I've started taking them just to see if I notice any difference in how I feel. My wife never did start on them and since they are here (and not cheap) I'm taking them. I take some other supplements too.

Don't worry, you'll still be making a company rich by buying this...

And by the way folks....I promise you that if the doctor who wrote this article had a meth resistant staff infection, he would ask for vancomycin, not a oil that was studied in a few rats....

And the only time that vanc is given in the pill form is when someone has a intestinal infection, like colitis- because it does not cross the lining of the intestine. If that route is taken, generic vanc is $5.50 a pill.

Otherwise,it's given thru a needle.

But the doc here gets paid to write the article...and probably gets paid when you buy some too.

I'd never ever buy anything for a $1 a pill that had a couple of small studies on in. Small studies can show anything.

Sorry Stiperaddict...I just like full disclosure on this stuff.:).

Invaid objection.
Doctors push prescription drugs for pharmaceutical profit (and theirs too) what's your point?

You're insinuating that it makes this one Dr.'s studies of no value, when there are other studies out there that have been valuable concerning this supplement; ... still more here

And this

more:
UNIVERSITY STUDIES DEMONSTRATE OREGANO'S EFFECTIVENESS

Numerous university studies (Georgetown, Cornell, Tennessee, etc.) and independent research have shown Oregano Oil to be a potent antimicrobial. The ever growing body of evidence is showing Oregano Oil to be useful as an antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agent rivaling even pharmaceutical antibiotics such as streptomycin, penicillin, vacnomycin, nystatin, and amphotericin in it's ability to eliminate microbes. Remarkably it accomplishes this without promoting the development of drug resistant strains and other problems often attributed to the use of standard antibiotics. In addition to this already impressive list of abilities Oregano Oil is also a powerful parasitic expellant, is valuable as a food preservative, and has been used to decontaminate foods from potentially harmful pathogen's. Carvacrol has been identified as the chief constituent behind Oregano Oil's extraordinary properties and is thought to work synergistically with the other components found in Wild Mediterranean Oregano Oil. These findings have been published in various scientific journals and presented at prestigious scientific functions.

Study up and get back ! ;)

Oregano's power to heal was known to ancient Greeks, and oregano has long been used for medical purposes.

That's much better data than the first article...lots of emprical evidence...still won't be skipping my antibiotics over it, however. Their is no data that shows conclusivly that it works in humans over placebo.

More of:well, in a dish and a couple of rats it works, on the skin, etc.

Keep in mind I have not taken antibiotics in over 20 years, however (not including topical for cuts).

Oh, and there is ABSOLUTLY NO evidence that it works better than the "best" antibiotics.

Risky, unreponsible, and super stupid comment coming from an MD.
