Recent electrofishing surveys revealed a 4-year-old, 11.5 pound, 22.83-inch-long bass and a 5-year-old, 11.12-pound, 23.62-inch-long bass. Both females were pit tagged fish grown out at Bowens Mill Fish Hatchery. These bass and their siblings have some of the fastest growth rates ever documented in largemouth bass

Impressive size for the age of the fish, they got something going right in that body of water. I wonder if those bass have some FL genetics in them?

MAN……it looks like they are well on their way to get back to it’s Glory Days.

Ole Dead River cracked that nut down there back in the day and routinely caught double digit bass down there. I hated to see it get drained but they had to fix it and it looks like they did!

Those are very fat and impressive bass!!!

Not sure of the species but they did only stock females. I spoke with the ranger about it there last spring. They are not easy to catch, either. They don't move shallow to bed.

I luckily caught one bass the only time I fished there. I caught her under some floating grass and she was a healthy 8#. There are some big ones in there but you are correct, they are hard to catch.

I don't know what they have going on but they got it going on,stocked in March 2017 as a one yr old it was captured in March 2019 and weighed 7.82 lbs, from then until a week ago it put on 5 lbs, that's incredible growth rates.

That picture from the second facebook link looks freakish. Reminds me of a friends' pond where the bass adapted to eat straight from the fish feeder. Tiny head, fat body. The reverse of an upside down pond with fat-headed skinny old fish.

FYI, tough lake to bass fish. I mean cast all day to catch one or two good bass. And don't plan on keeping a double digit bass like that either.

Threadfin shad and a healthy bluegill and crappie population = a great forage base. Plus catch and release only for the bass.
