Never seen quail that big. Were they Bob Whites? When a young man I used to hunt quail on farms around here. Talking 40-50 years ago. tTey were plentiful, but fences are a thing of the past so no hedge rows and cotton has replaced corn Never hear them or see them.

Your preparations look fantastic. Must say fried quail with grits and gravy are my favorite way to cook and eat them however. Old saying around here is if it ain't fried I'm suspicious of it.
