Persimmons

I have planted 20 persimmon trees over the last 4 years. 12 were supposed to be grafted females and I planted 8 regular American seedlings. Of the 12 that were supposed to be grafted females only 5 made persimmons last year. 2 of them I noticed today had started budding out so I went and immediately cut some scion wood from some known females across the farm and attempted to graft them to two of the ones that haven’t produced yet. May have jumped the gun but I guess we will see. I will try some more in the coming weeks. Anyone ever had any half males, half females lol

Good luck, sir!!!!

I am def leaning into projects like this.

But…….

- I thought scions had to be collected from dormant trees
- I thought you had to wait til the trees were greened up to graft to them.

I have Fuyu and Meador scions in the fridge (thanks @SCDAWG ) and will start my 2024 attempts as soon as the trees green up.

Best of luck, sir!!!!!
