Most the folks there been going many years. I'm one of them. The feds don't play so most fly right ( to the letter of the regs ). Roughly 53 square miles of woods. I can always find a area without company. I feel safe

I shot my first deer with a bow in area 18. Actually it was my first two deer. Shot one in the morning and one in the evening. It was opening weekend for Piedmont which was the second weekend of the Georgia State season. I’m not sure if they still open the second week of archery season. Fond memories. That was back in 1989.

My club backs up to the north side of PNWR, I hunted it for years but wont anymore, in the last 5 or so years it seems like every nuckelhead that cant afford or gets booted from a hunting club shows up for the hunt and are the most inconsiderate people Ive ever met. They will park right behind your truck and walk all over you to get to a spot, they will open closed gates and drive back into places people are hunting, Ive never heard so many truck doors slam at daylight and 9AM in My life. ALSO the roads are trashed after the hunt with all sorts of garbage, Every parking spot and gated road had garbage thrown out on the ground. Its a disgrace ...and the worst....... They can NOT read No Trespassing signs on the refuge boundary!!! We have to escort 2 to 5 "lost" hunters back off our land every year!! Weve even had a few drive into out camp past numerous posted signs and ask if they" can get to the piedmont thru here '??

I've been going over 20 yrs and second cuz been going 40..... I've not seen trash like you speak of. Other than what's there before the first hunt starts. That would be locals dumping. I have seen tickets being wrote for litter in camp. I also know they'll mail you a ticket for a trashed camp site after your hunt. Worst place is the dumpster where some discard deer parts. It's rank by the third hunt.

Use the map and picked an area. Try to be there early for scout day. Use a mapping app to locate your places of interest and walk it scout day. Each area is roughly 1000 acres. Piedmont you can find deer everywhere. I put in for primitive weapons this year but also plan to be at the drawing to purchase any of the remaining hunts not sold out.
Decided to do just one Piedmont hunt this yr. Both rifle hunts coincide with a couple other hunts I plan to be at. The primitive weapons hunt is my favorite anyhow

ok I have never been there. Is it mainly pines some hardwood bottoms? Is there alot of undergrowth? Can you hunt from the ground and be able to see?

Solid info right there. Do you have a link to that app you used? Mine is Android, if that matters.

I could really use that app because I'll be hunting public land the next few seasons. Some wooded areas are a little hard to compass in and compass out. It's doable but getting off coarse in the thick woods is something to think about.

Try onX... it is free but there is a subscription to it as well if you want more (land owners, property boundaries)
