Scrapes Under Pine Limbs

I usually see early scrapes in pines, but this year I've seen more under a pine limb than probably all other years I've hunted combined on two places about 25 miles apart. All the good little water oaks around and they choose to make one under a pine branch. One was broke but still dangling over a new scrape last week. They broke it the rest of the way this week and dug it out pretty good, considering how dry it's been. I would think it is just an odd ball 4 pt doing it, if I didn't notice it on two properties.

Over the years I have put a camera on many scrapes and usually get many pictures of many different bucks and probably more does than bucks. I really don’t think there is any direct correlation as to what type a tree to how big the buck is. I think it’s just a form of communication for all deer. They scrape under pines a lot where I hunt too .
