Stock texture?

I recently picked up a synthetic stock for a bolt action rifle project and it has no checkered. Pretty slick and could use some grip on the wrist and forearm. Has anyone found a method of adding texture that they are happy with?

You might look into having it bedlinered on the exterior surfaces. I've done a couple of home built stocks and they seem to hold up ok but the professionally sprayed stuff is more durable. With the slick plastic, you'd likely need to scuff it a bit to get it to stick.

I've held rifles that had been done with the textured stone rustoleum or krylon. Prep it right, tape off what you dont want covered with it, and spray away.

Skateboard sure works good on pistols...front straps anyway

Brownells Spray Grit is some pretty good stuff too...just don't get it where your cheek rides the stock

I also have a stock that has Line-X on it...a soft kinda rough it is thick though

I've got a few years now on that paint job with no problems at all and it's not slick at all.

I've used the Rustoleum textured out door furniture paint on several synthetic stocked rifles with excellent results. Light sanding and through degreasing is a must. I wear disposable clean white cotton gloves during all steps after the sanding. I prime with several coats of flat back high temp engine paint. Don't take short cuts on the prep, it is the deciding factor for long lasting results.
