Storing medicinal plants

I've noticed a ton of plantain and various medicinal plants around my house lately and I've always wondered how to store plants like this for future use(?) Without losing their potency/effectiveness.

I'll have to dig up one of my old Backwoodsman magazines. They had an article on making tinctures from medicinal plants and herbs.
