I should have paid more attention. Before my first wedding, my future FIL offered $10,000 if she and I would elope and skip the expensive wedding. She wouldn't hear of it and I think it cost him north of $15,000 and that was back in 1973. That marriage held till the kids were out of school and had come apart for some of the same reasons that the offer from my first FIL were spurned.

I am in a much better place now with a woman who values things that are also important to me.

If I remember correctly, I spent more on the ring than the wedding and I’m cheap. :ROFLMAO: It only lasted about 8 years though.facepalm:

And who would have thought people would pay good money for a photobooth setup at weddings.
Saw that at a niece's wedding a couple years ago.

I met my wife after the PoPo broke my nose in the Rice Street Hilton after getting a DUI. She came up to me and asked if it hurt and so I asked her to marry me (not right away)we through in having our daughter some where in there. Needless to say I lost my license from the dui. I decided to to drive myself to work without a license. This was during the Olympics so I thought I could use back streets to get away from the traffic on 285. Going through Chamblee I roll stoped a stop sign and got nabbed. They took me to jail for no license 3 days before my wedding. I sat in Chamblee 2 days waiting to see the judge. In the meantime I had a buddy of mine act like me and hit the court house, and health department to go sign all the papers in my place for the marriage license. I finally got in front of the judge and told her what happened. I explained my future MIL flew in last night and I have never met her and I am supposed to get married tomorrow. I laughed and said maybe yall can just keep me because I think I'm in alot of trouble at home. She laughed and let me sign my own bond. My wife came that night to pick me up with her mother.
There's the short version.
