West Point River Fishing - Striper/Hybrid Run

Back in the late ‘80s when I started fishing there. Water depths weren’t a concern all the way to Franklin. Used to fish New River, Potato Creek all the time. I’m nervous anywhere above 219 now.

Yes it’s silting in.

We started putting in at Ringer sometime in the mid-to-late 70s. Plenty of water at the ramp. We would make the right hand turn immediately coming out of Ringer and head upriver with a huge mud island to the left as we ran upriver, then had to navigate a field of large stumps as we crossed over to the left bank heading upriver.

The standing timber around the "big rock" followed the channel on the left hand bank for well over a mile going upriver from there, and we used to catch crappie like crazy.

Been fishing that lake for going on 50 years. There have been more than a few changes.
