Wildest conspiracy theory I’ve heard in a while

I was talking with a friend last night about the difference in the military when the US entered WW2 and whatever today’s military is. He said a little known fact is that prior to the Pearl Harbor attack, the US attacked a Japanese submarine to provoke war with Japan because war is profitable to those in the right position. Color me skeptical on this one.

Partially true. The 1st shot fired between the U.S. and Japan was a U.S. warship firing on and sinking a Japanese mini sub... inside the Pearl Harbor safety zone, but the Japanese planes were already in the air headed to Pearl.

Now that makes much better sense. With that happening, it makes you wonder why no one saw the attack on Pearl Harbor coming. Seems like hostilities were high.

U.S. thought that the Japanese would hit the Philippines for their 1st strike.

There’s a lot of detail about the Pearl attack thats interesting. The torpedoes had to be modified to make them run correctly shallow. There was much thought put into it by the Japanese. Everything fell into place for them to make it a success. After the battle of Midway the Japanese were on defense.

Wars make politicians rich , why do you think we want to be involved with a war in Ukraine ? our politicians are getting kickbacks on the money shipped to Ukraine and the supplies we send . Our middle class is disappearing and we are supposed to care what happens to those crooks .

They didnt have the internet back then so people had to wait longer for information.

So I have been working for a Japanese company for almost 40 years. One day in casual friendly conversation a young Japanese employee made the comment to me you started the war. Of course I said no you attacked us at Pearl Harbor unprovoked. He shared with me they are taught we started the war with embargos and cutting off needed resources. After some research part of what he was saying is correct. But do not see it justifying Pear Harbor! My point is there are always two sides to every story....

One word description to the reason for those embargoes... Nanking.

That is why I generally vote for whomever is NOT the incumbent…with a few exceptions.

They need to know their seat neither cushy nor permanent.

After years of politicians only working toward reelection and very little else, I have become a firm believer in term limits. That being only one term….ever….for all political positions.

In the same category as the first shot in the civil war. Sure, the South fired the first actual bullet at fort Sumpter, but who was the real aggressor?

US leaders badly wanted into the European front in WWII, but public support wasn't there. However, the Triparte Pact (alliance between Germany, Japan, and Italy) basically allowed that being at war with Japan automatically put us in the European theatre.

Mr. Goat I respectfully remind you that we have term limits already. It is called the ballot box. People need to get off their Duff and vote the crooks out.
I think what Goat means, and most will agree, is to term limits that makes a candidate ineligible after a certain number of terms, like president, governor, etc. Yes, they can be voted out but career politicians seldom are.

Yes,by the end of their first term they have managed to buy enough votes or convinced the average voter how great they are. Enough of this. Ya'll have a great day and enjoy this wonderful weather.

If all the crooks are out then there will be zero politicians... hey, may be on to something......

The war with Japan was indeed over resources and the US was crowding them out. Japan needed the resources for its Imperialistic goals (as did the US). The US was winning the "Cold War" for those resources so Japan decided to make it a "Hot War". Yamamoto had spent a lot of time in the US and he knew that Japan could not win a protracted war. Their only chance was to take out the strength of the US Navy at one blow. He came close but in the end US production turned the tide both in the West and in the East.

Everybody wants to be an empire till they gotta fight a bigger one. Had Japan not bombed Pearl harbor and Hilter not tried his luck on the eastern front the world map would probably look a good bit different.

Lived in Japan for three years. Millions of people and no resources. They were empire building, invade those that had coal, rubber etc. It’s as simple as that. In the end our industrial might proved they picked the wrong fight.
