Throwy,

All I can say is that I'm proud that I'm not a Chinaman, Iranian, North Korean, Russian, Cuban, Frenchman, Canadian or a man from any of those other Socialist/Totalitarian countries!

Yep! We are over regulated and over taxed but we enjoy so many more freedoms than the rest of the world that I can only view my life as an American as a Blessing from the AllMighty God!

Yep! As we move closer and closer to a true democracy due to the liberalization of our society, we transfer our God-given freedoms away in exchange for what we believe to be security.

Perhaps the scales will fall from America's eyes before we have lost all liberty!

NNNNAAAHHHH!!!

We're doomed! :banginghe

Ain't that like saying that a car opens the door to DUIs, or a baseball bat opens the door to assault?"

Nick, Everybody knows baseball bats lead to steroid abuse. Wrong thread.

I've said many times that we live in, BY FAR the greatest country in the world and that is a scary thought. Things could/should be alot better. How? I don't know. The problem began with humans.

Our representatives should reflect our beliefs/wants/needs. The problem is they have to be elected/re-elected and can't do that and truly reflect anyones beliefs/wants/needs. That leaves us either voting for someone that is in our political party which I do not belong to any or voting against the lesser of two evils(evil emphasis varying greatly between local and national levels).

We should be happy for the freedoms we have and pine for the ones we don't. I don't need the government baby sitting me. Unfortunately some have allowed this and let some of our freedoms escape us.

Throw, I think this is the most I have ever thought about any post on Woody's. To answer your question, I don't know. I would love to say freedom of religion but that is a government backed freedom. But I can pray to God, so I've got that going for me.

OKAY!!!!!! OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!

before I get blackballed from the board, let me tell ya'll this.

SOUTHERNCLAY came close.

I've been thinking of this for months seriously, and in different ways for years--I just didn't know it. ;)

The ONLY and I mean the ONLY thing the government cannot touch is your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That's it. It is as tangible as gold, although more precious than any worldly thing.

They can take things from you, even the Bible, but never the personal relationship you have with Him, as well as your soul, which you have given to Him--if you have the relationship with Him. (Hope that wasn't too confusing)

I know some of you get riled up when I bring up these subjects. GOOD!! YOU SHOULD! It SHOULD make you mad when I question your beliefs in your government, HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT ME QUESTIONING YOUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS QUESTIONING YOUR COUNTRY! I saw a bumper sticker a while back that said "I love my country, but fear my government". that sums it up.

On that line of thought, can any government REALLY take away your God given rights? NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! A thousand times NO!!!!!!!! THey can try to enslave you they cannot take them away. "All men are born with certain unalienable rights". They are given by God, and NO government can TRULY take them away from us.

Think of it like Israel (the land, not the people). God gave the land known as Israel to the Israeli people. Through the centuries just about everyone other than them has owned it until now,and that is subject to change. But guess what, it was, is, and never will belong to ANYONE but the Israeli people. period.

Same way with our rights. God gave them to us, and no man or government can truly take them from us. They can on paper, but that means NOTHING in the grand scheme of things.

My 2cents worth.

I think the law states only those items sold in Alabama; thus, no "interstate commerce".

You would think that in order for it to be considered "interstate commerce" in order for the Feds to have their power over it, it would require that the product be produced in one state and sold in another. But that's not the case. That "interstate commerce" has been stretched that include any impacts you may have on the demand on that market in another state. I believe there was a case where a man wanted to grow his own wheat for his family and livestock's consumption, as well as sell some locally (in state). But it was ruled that by him producing his own it would cut down on the demand of wheat from other neighboring states, therefore it could be considered "interstate commerce". Now if that's not stretching the term "interstate commerce" in order for the Federal government to over rule the States, then I don't know what would be. In fact I can't think of anything that I could produce to use myself that wouldn't eliminate my demand to buy it from someone else (that could just potentially be in another state), and therefore put it under Federal jurisdiction due to "interstate commerce", by their definition of the term.

Fletch,
When I was studying for my Real Estate Exam I was going over Antitrust laws and it was relating interstate commerce to it as well. I can see it in some cases but overall a stretch as you said.

Throw,
I would like for you to keep on keepin on. It's not always painful to think.
