dan, how do you build that trap? been thinking about trying one out, just not sure how to put it all together. when you get one built, do you have to check it often, maybe once a week?

it should be checked every day. not only will they run out of water, they will p**p all over the place. it can stink real bad! they will dig holes, and make the trap floor hold water, wich will add to the stink. we concrete the floors in ours. they can still root holes in the concrete! if you dont put it down heavy enough. hope you have a rail or something across the top. they can jump higher than you would think.

First time I've heard of concreteing the floor. It doesnt bother them?

I agree that you should check your trap often so as not to deny the hog of food and water.

The p**p will stink, but it will smell like a hog, which in turn should help you attract a hog into the trap. It gives the hogs a since that other hogs have been there and helps relax them.

And they can jump, so be careful approaching a trap without a top you might end up with a lapfull of wild hog.
