Most folks get a $100 per inch of blade for a finished damascus knife...that is a "general" price for a well made custom knife of that persuasion.

I use stainless damascus (Damas Steel) made from powder metal, from a company in Sweden. Some of the bars cost as much as $140 an inch, that's before I ever start to grind or drill on it.
But you can find damascus blanks on ebay for as little as $40 for a finished blade that only needs to be finished out with a handle and sheath.

Beware cheap damascus knife blanks from ebay, they can come from pakistan or india. Not always, just be careful.
