Open weekend of Florida's gobbler season

Had two gobblers at thirty yards opening morning.they came in neck and neck and departed the same way.with Florida law at one gobbler per day and two per season I had to pass the shot.Me and my Son hunted that afternoon and he was able to score on a good fall bird with a good beard.looking forward to getting in the woods in the morning and scattering a flock.

A friend of mine makes them from the birds we take.we have several and each has its own distinct sound.

Do you hunt turkeys this time of year the same way you do in the spring, with calling and everything?

You have to scatter them from the roost and call them in and with adult gobblers it can sometimes take several days since they are not dependant on a hen.sometimes they'll reassemble pretty quick and other times not.
