I'm trying to build an 12v LED headlight for gator hunting.

The requirements are
-must be at least 300lm
-must be dimmable all the way down to 1lm
-must throw a very tight spot or beam out to 70yds(this is the most importan requirement)
- does not have to be 12v but we carry several 12v batteries with us while hunting.

My idea is to use the 12v battery as supply power to pwm for the dimmer then to an on/off switch and then to the light.

I'm having trouble finding the correct LED to use that throws a good beam/spot. I've ordered several that advertise as a spot but they are not close to what I need.

Currently we are using the guts out of a 12v incandescent qbeam that we mounted to a hardhat and wired in an on/off switch and a rheostat for dimming. We built a sheild around the bulb to focus the beam and reduce the glare. But I want to change over to LED

Any help is appreciated.
