West Point Linesides Report

Got out on the pond today from roughly 10:00 to 4:30. Had a mix of threadfin and gizzard shad in the tank. After a little searching, found several schools of fish and got into some for a couple of hours that were wanting to eat.

Caught a good mix of hybrids and stripers. Most fish came on down lines from 15-22 ft with a few on Redi-Rigs set from 5-8 ft. All the fish we caught came from flats just off the channel in the general Liberty Hill area. The threadfins caught far more than the gizzards today. Water temp was 58 degrees and clear.

Hoped to see some schooling activity with the cloud cover and at times drizzly conditions. Did some riding all the way down to the 109 Bridge area looking for some schooling but other than the occasional single fish or two, didn't see anything. Plenty of gulls to be seen, but they were just hanging out.

Nice job! We fished last Friday and found pretty much the same thing. The only schooling we saw was right before dark...maybe the last 45 minutes. It wasn’t a full blown frenzy but some good swirling under birds and added a few fish because of it.

Great report and I thought that was you that passed us a few times throughout the morning. We stayed in the same general area for five hours or so and went through 48 hand sized gizzards. Most of our fish came in on redi rigs with 1/8th ounce weight and just a few on boards.

Thanks! I thought we could find some schooling, but just didn't happen.

Thanks! Yep, that was me. Will stop and say hello next time. Hindsight being 20-20, I wouldn't have done so much riding early on looking for some schoolers and just went right what worked. Still had a real good day non-the-less. Guess that's why they call it fishing.

You get any decent ones?

Would like to get in another trip early next week ahead of that next big front. Don't know it's going to happen though.

Please do stop in next time we enjoy sharing and shaking paws!

We had two decent ones tangle us up in the tree tops early when the fog was still heavy and they were probably in the 15lb-ish range. Plenty of action with the smaller ones though.

The larger ones were there but with all that bait around they had no reason to move.
