I would say somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. I had been hunting this bird pretty hard and was able to set up on him really good one evening. I was just on the edge of the ridge he was roosting on and waxed him walking along the side of the ridge.
I killed my largest one at 4:30 PM. Found where they had been roosting, sat up with some soft clucks and purrs. The bird flew across a small river into a clear cut and left another gobbler and hens. 21lbs, 3 beards- 1-101/2, 1-8, and 1-6 inches. 1 inch spurs.
I waited for a big line of storms to clear on the radar. Hot footed it to one of my spots and killed a big tom about an hour later. It was 1:30 when i got back to the truck.
