The not-so-elusive black panther

Believe it or not, this particular subspecies of panther has actually become quite common in some parts of the south. They are regularly seen feeding on waterfowl in Arkansas and Louisiana in late fall and early winter in large numbers. I actually shot a duck over there one time, and one of these cats got to it before I could!

Word is they are native to one of the Eastern Canadian provinces (don't recall which one), and spread south from there. Be warned, however, this cat has a particular fondness for bedding down on couches, particularly those near a fireplace, inside a human house!

Should you spy one in your house, approach with caution!

They are very dangerous when hungry. Here's one sampling its prey before making a meal of it. OH THE HUMANITY!
