Finally able to eat the first tomatoes from this year's garden.
Actually, I guess these were tomatoes from last year's garden. The plants these tomatoes came from came up as volunteer plants about a month after I tilled under the old garden - and in an area that didn't have tomatoes planted in it to begin with. My wife dug them up and kept them alive all winter in the garage, then we transplanted them when the straw bales were ready this spring.
One concern we had with doing the straw bales was whether the tomatoes would have good flavor or if they would taste 'flat'.... well, that concern was dismissed last night. They were MIGHTY FINE!!
