Just playing around some on the family property till hunting season gets over with. Pulled everything yesterday for Christmas. Got properties lined up for the rest of the season. Hopefully it’ll be a good one.

Recovering from Christmas and my little girl out of school wanting to do some trapping it was a good week to head over to a buddies to get some nuisance beaver taken out. We turned the little opossum loose. Headed to a small acreage next week to do some coon and k-9 trapping.

Nice! I haven't gotten into any water trapping yet (beaver / otter), so dumb question, it looks like you're catching them live? I only heard of guys getting them with the conibear, killemdead traps...

Second one is snared. They usually get caught behind the shoulders and are waiting on you in the morning. The first one was in a foothold. He pulled my rod up from the deep end. T stake at the bank held though and he was there waiting on us. Didn’t go as planned but worked out.

Ok cool. I had a friend get one in a regular yote trap by accident, just didn't know people target beavers with footholds..

Check out the meat trapper on you tube. I learned a lot about trapping beavers on that channel.

Slow week. I never do good when it’s in the low 20’s. I did play around some with the pipe set. It worked. Got some beaver work next week.

Cool. The first year I trapped I got half a dozen coon. Now I can't seem to buy one, don't know why, haven't changed anything?

I usually catch around 25 - 30 coon a year. People I know like to eat them. I just give em to them. If they didn’t ask for them I wouldn’t target them. I probably catch half of them in beaver sets and post sets for k-9 and cats. The rest in dp’s. They love castor mound sets for beaver.

Your wearing them out so far. Nice catches and if you had to suggest the best K9 bait/lure what would that be? I’ve got a pack that’s moved in very heavily and plan on setting some dirt hole sets.

Thank you. That’s a tough question. Lot of good choices out there these days. I’m going to go with powder river for bait. I like some castor down the hole to. I usually use back breaker. It’s a beaver lure, but deadly on k-9 and other critters as well. Finally I’ve always loved violator 7 for a gland lure. These 3 products will catch you some fur.

9 beaver this week and 1 otter. Caught 5 yesterday and 4 today. Biggest one weighed 53 lbs. Pulled traps since it’s suppoosed to rain pretty much all day tomorrow. I got wet enough today. I’ll probably take next week off from the line and put some fur up. Freezers getting pretty full.
