Is the bear harvest data out yet. Just wondering. county by county who had the best year. This info also seemd good for interpreting where higher populations of male bear are harvested.
From what I see normally I agree rabun, gilmer probly atop of the list. To bad theres not much public opportunity in rabun from what I've found.
yep lots of land. And lots of very rough land! Probably some of the biggest nastiest ivy thickets in the state! But you see how many big bears have been killed in rabun over the years!Rabun has tens of thousands of acres of CNF, low to high, easily accessible to extremely remote. The best mountain hunting in our state is Rabun County in my opinion. The overwhelming majority of it is not limited by the dates of WMA hunts, but rather managed as CNF.
I'm curious myself as to what the totals will be. My guess is gilmer, white and rabun will be close in the top numbers.
Thanks I will look more into cnf land, didn't think it streched over that far.[/QUOTE]Rabun has tens of thousands of acres of CNF, low to high, easily accessible to extremely remote. I'm used to hunting around helen, good area but popular. Looking to get outside of that area and do some scouting. Normally I just take the family, put them in a hotel in helen and hit the woods. Sometimes when it's just me I will ride up and camp out on a mountain top on nf. That way I'm there and no driving in early spooking game out. This is good only if you expect to be the only one in the area.No no no you got it all wrong aint no hunting in rabun county, no mountains or streams or hikin either. I also heard from a friend that all the mountains in the east part of the state are straigh up n down and you need to be an expert rock climber to hunt there.
