I’ve been in Heard since a little after daylight. I overslept and didn’t go to my first spot and went to an easier one. I’ve been standing on the ground for almost 45 minutes as deer have been out in front ever since. Couple big doe groups feasting on remaining acorns. Had a little 6 point come busting through grunting and roaring at them. Very fun morning so far.
Fannin/32/sunny&blue skies/8:15 does-2adults&2youngin's,walking slow...don't think we're gonna have a secondary rut but season last until 14JAN.Maybe get lucky and nail a coyote.
Good luck all and safe holidays.
My favorite picture of the season.
Definitely going through the late December lull here, none if us have seen anything. My nephew is a couple of miles away and hasn’t seen any either. Plenty of time still
Was about to get up and heard some run in the bottom below me, then some grunting. Could only pick up bits and pieces of movement. Ones been in the same area about 20 minutes blowing every once in a while. Squirrels are still barking so I’ll wait a while.
Son in law that is new to hunting ended up seeing 4 does but they were in some thick stuff, then 30 minutes later a 6 pointer that he could’ve shot but got by him. He was afraid to move because it was so close to him. He had fun, and that’s all that matters
