Interesting that it was determined the canoe was being used for fishing.
Not sure how a wood canoe stays sunk ??
Maybe very dense wood.
Maybe an angry x-mother-in-law ?

A few years ago one was found in the Ocmulgee river below Hawkinsville. That area has high banks and the water was very low so you could see right down into it. Someone walking the bank found it. Or so the story went at the time.
Being curious I wanted to see it so I asked around. An older gentleman who was a friend (and if anybody would know it would be him.) told me it was on sawhorses down at the funeral home. And only a choice few were allowed to see it.
No decision had been made as to what to do with it. There was little coverage in the papers. And now it seems to have been conviently forgotten.
Sure. I think somebody had thier eye on that thing all along.
