1990 chevy truck tail light issue

1990 4x4, no break lights, changed the bulbs. When I turn on the blinker it flashes normal but if I hit the breaks while it is on it flashes really fast and they don't work on the rear end. Had one person tell me that the assemblies on the rear were known to go bad and cause strange issues. Anyone had this happen before?

That model will have individual sockets, 99 and newer have an assembly that holds all the bulbs in the tail lamps, it often gives trouble. Fuses, relays or most likely a bad ground would be my guess.

I am with Fireman32 thinking it is a bad ground wire. Chasing a bad ground in a wiring harness can be a PITA.

sounds like one bulb is grounding thru the other bulb and not the socket

Agree with the above, it's a ground issue.
