In case you have not see this, looks like it's just nature being nature, but it's still a bit sad these big bucks did not make it to hunting season. Appears deer hunters compete with bears for venison.
Saw this on Mike Hanback's blog that pointed to a Pennsylvania forum that had 14 photos on one web page, but the PA forum pointed to Outdoor Life's web site that shows 17 photos 1-web-page at a time of a hoss of a velvet buck being eaten by a bear.
1st photo below is a Virginia non-typical velvet buck roadkill.
Next 3 photos below that is a few of 17 total of a Pennsylvania typical velvet 10-pt. buck injured by a vehicle but apparently still alive while a bear begins to chomp down on it for an easy meal.

Good Morning Mike: I don’t know if you have heard about this deer yet or not. It was rumored to have been hit by a car around Henrico VA over the weekend or yesterday morning. I know several folks who work for VDOT and have verified the story for me. What a shame. Thought you might be interested in a deer of this size in Central VA.
What a shame indeed, I'm sure one of my fellow VA hunters had seen this monster and was planning to hunt him in a month or so.

More Velvet Road Kill: Bear Eats Buck!

Hi Mike: After seeing the trophy VA road kill you posted earlier today, thought you might like to see one that didn’t totally go to waste, at least it fed the bear… Chad
This photo and a string of others (sad and gory, the bear ate the injured buck alive) purportedly came from Warren Co., PA. Man, some Mid-Atlantic velvet giants were unceremoniously whacked by cars the last few days. What a shame.
This pic makes me wonder how many deer black bears eat? Probably a fair number of fawns. This doesn’t look like a large bear, but he’s sure chowing down like he knows what he’s doing.
