SEC will renegotiate. The only TV market in BIG 10 country in the top 25 for college football viewership is Columbus Ohio. The other 24 are in the SEC / ACC footprint.
As much as people outside the SE would like to pretend otherwise there is almost no interest in College football outside of the SEC/ACC footprint and much of the ACC footprint has no interest either.

Also heard a conversation with the journalist who wrote the article and the number is closer to $800 million than it is to a billion. Still a lot of money but the magic number of a billion is, according the writer, a pretty big stretch. Not undoable but unlikely UNLESS it is a streaming deal. In that case who's gonna watch it? Streaming is great if you live out of market but most people still watch football on a TV connected to a cable or even an antennae...and they will for many years to come.
SEC did just renegotiate if Im not mistaken. Also you do realize the BIG has made the most money for awhile with their TV contracts. Also the big noon kickoff on fox did better then any other show including game day with their prime time slots this past year as the article stated. Your way underselling the Midwest and their passion for college football and this new contract will prove just that. That's why the BIG TV contracts have never taken a back seat to anyone. And trust me it's not just because of Columbus.

The SEC did indeed just renegotiate. That is no reason they cant or will not do so again. Market conditions have changed considerably. If anyone doubts the SEC is too smart to have language in a contract that will allow renegotiating terms when markets change they are beyond delusional.

I'd have to see some numbers to buy a noon kick on Fox or the big noon kickoff show eclipsed Game Day on a regular basis. It certainly didn't do it every week and the article doesn't claim it did...all the article claims is that the Big 10 draws large audiences, and there is little doubt of that. They just do not draw audiences that compare in size to the SEC/ACC footprint markets, according to Nielsen Ratings. Columbus Ohio is the ONLY market in the to 25, at a respectable 10, outside of the SEC footprint. It isn't really even the SEC/ ACC footprint because all of the markets in the top 25 but DC and Charlotte NC are ALL in the SEC footprint alone.

According to Nielsen the Big Noon has eclipsed College Gameday once...this year before the GAME....where the Big Noon had a 1.6 market share and Gameday had a 1.58. Game day had more viewers on January 10, 2022, than the Big Noon Kickoff had ALL season, according to Nielsen. It was infiinitely bigger on 1/10/22 LOL.

You mean after the BIG cuts ties with them? Yes I agree with you as they will have to show even more sec games not just the best ones. Watching that reminds me of teams like the Gators, Tennessee, auby ect.
How did your last go-round with my Gators turn out? 41-14

Not a whole lot to do up there in November but either stare at uncut corn or pickle beets. Usually the County fair on Sunday since the Steelers and Browns are all that’s on.

Gonna be interesting when Bama and Auburn get moved to the east.
Yep. Auburn will be fighting the Vols for worst team in the SEC. Bama will be trying to get Kirby as their coach in a couple years.

Each team in the SEC and the other conferences that want to keep up will need to budget $10 -15 million annual for player salaries within the next 2 years.

No this is what it said;
"Fox’s noon Saturday window was the most viewed in college football this past season"

As far as your thoughts of the sec footprint being far superior to the BIGs as far as passion or viewers the numbers simply don't back that up. Here are the most watched games of this past season. Not surprisingly the top 2 games are considered the top rivalry games in football. OSU/ttun blew away Bama/auby. You will also notice how many big teams were in games with the most viewed nation wide.
None of this is to show that the BIG footprint has more passion then the south its just to show that the BIG has always been a cash cow for the TV market. That's why the BIG always negotiated the largest initial tv deals.

As of yesterday the new reports coming out are that NBC is prepared to offer 1.1B er year for the BIG. That's almost 3 times what the secs brand new deal is. There is a reason the BIG is stalling on resigning the ESPN rights because they know what's coming. If the SEC footprint is so much better then the BIGs footprint then the sec sucks at negotiations, or, the BIGs footprint is far more lucrative then an sec fan wants to believe.

So the Big10’s new motto is....”If you can’t beat ‘em, buy ‘em!”

Umm no, thats not how that works. Lol
The BIG will be getting money not giving it away. 1.1B divided by 14 teams. WOW:eek:
And with that money (NIL) they will recruit southern high schools even harder.

With Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC, the Big 10 will be so far in the rear view mirror it isn't funny. Against the SEC and the Pac 12, Big 10 won't have the fiscal fire power to compete. You know as well as anyone does that big oil, ag and tech trumps anything the big ten can offer. To quote Jack Cates "You're done, end of story"

Yea because the BIG has never compared fiscally. This is laughable at best. And you posted this in the face of why I made this post. Thats laughable. I guess the guys at NBC and fox haven't spoke to you yet. You better hurry up and let them know. Lol Big oil has always been in Texas and it hasn't made a difference yet. You bringing up the pac is laughable as well. Big tech deosnt care about college football. They get 100 fans at their games out west.
