Chert question

I was told that chert was not native to Georgia and that the indians had to trade for it. Well today one of my field guys comes in with huge pieces of it. Says the property we are building on is loaded with it. The contractor is having to remove it by the tons! So I guess chert is native to Georgia? Or is this just a rare find?

Chert is native to Georgia, and probably every other state as well. Some grades of it might not be too good, and it might be tougher than woodpecker lips, but it will be chert.

True flint on the other hand is only found in one place on this continent, Georgetown Texas, in a chalk mine. It is almost identical to some grades of English and Danish flint.

How about postin` some pics of this stuff. I`d sure be interested in seein it.
