Some of our greatest times were spent fishing for Carp under the Sycamore Trees over on the Hooch near the Softball Complex which is next to my PT job. We use to meet on Thursdays and eat lunch at The Log Cabin Restaurant. After a belly full of food (including fried cauliflower and sweet tea) we would then go Carpin’ on the Hooch for the rest of the day. From time to time folks would notice our trucks, stop by and visit and before you know it they were there the next Thursday to join us around the table and then on the bank.

Those days were good because there was no schedule, no agenda, and very little cost. Guys came and went, the seasons came and went and soon, the years came and went as well. The Log Cabin is now closed. The Boat Ramp in that area is trashed out and not really in the cleanest condition now so all that is just a memory.

But (change of direction) in hopes of resurrecting that same spirit, Tim “Cool Dad” Gill and I have decided that we need to get back to basics on occasion! This coming Thursday August 1st we will be fishing a spot on Tanyard Creek Road in Acworth that has been fairly productive for us this year. We are actually fishing on the old beach across the road from the Tanyard Creek Day Use area. (We fish on the side toward I-75). You can park along the road or at the double gate or you can pay $3 and park in the day use area and walk across the road.

Maybe you have been curious about “Puffology”.

Perhaps you’d like to witness the phenomenon of the Carp Hound’s Lick and Release…..

Or maybe, you’d just like to bring a chair and a pole and just sit and enjoy some good wholesome fellowship. If any of these things ***** your interest you might just want to “come see us “ this Thursday!

If you want to double check before you come feel free to call the Ol Captain’s Carp Hotline at 404-405-3523. By the way, we should be there from 8:30 AM or so until mid afternoon. We would love to have YOU join us this week!!
